The Annoying Doctors Visit!

About a week ago, I went to the Orthopedic Specialist to have my heel checked out.  It has been bothering me for about a month and a half.  It sometimes hurts to walk, but really only when I  "force" flex, which occurs when I tumble or vault.  I had x-rays taken and the doctor told me I had Sever's Disease. (It's not really a disease!)   It's where there's inflammation in the growth plate in the heel. (That's what has been causing my pain) There's nothing you can do except rest, rest , and rest some more.  (Which is annoying!!)  You know what my mom told him?  "It doesn't work to tell a gymnast to rest!!!"  I laughed when she said it!!

For as long as it hurts, I will still be doing bars and beam full on, but on floor and vault I will have to do a minimal amount of tumbling and actual vaulting! This will help to rest the injury.

  1. Chloe, an excellent job of explaining your medical problem with your heel. Often it is most difficult to wait and be patient in times like these. But the best thing you can do for yourself is to heed the doctors advice. You wouldn't want to have something worse develop out of this because of not giving the heel a chance to heal completely. Your future is not going to depend on gymnastics even though at the present time it might seem like that. Today I was happy to hear that you have already had some improvement. Love You Bunches!!!
